How to Upload a Theme in Blogger | How to Upload Custom Theme in Blogger

I hope you are all doing well. This is Part 5 of our course where we will learn how to install and customize a theme on the Blogger platform.

First open your Blogger platform by logging into your account. Once it opens click on View Blog to see your website. You will notice that the website looks very simple and plain because no theme has been installed yet.

Now let is install a theme. Go back to your Blogger dashboard and navigate to the Theme section. Once there you will see the Customize and Arrow buttons. Click on the arrow and then on Restore. Here you will find an Upload option. Click on it.

Select the theme file you have already downloaded. For this example I will use the News Plus Premium theme. Choose the XML file (the file format Blogger supports). Click on it and then select Open.

Wait for a few seconds and you will see a notification confirming that the theme has been restored successfully. Now go back and click on View Blog to check if the theme is installed. You will notice that the website now looks much better with the installed theme.

Customizing the Theme:

Return to the Blogger dashboard and go to the Layout section.
Here you can edit elements like the header logo and menu.
Click on Header to upload your website logo.
Click on Choose File select your logo and save it.
If there is an unnecessary ad section remove it for now.
For the Mobile Logo upload the same logo you used for the header then save it.

Customizing the Main Menu:

Go to the Main Menu section and click on the pencil icon.

Edit or delete unnecessary menu items. Add new pages or links by clicking Add New Item. Enter the name and URL of the page then save it.

After making changes save the settings and you will see the updated menu on your website.

Customizing Hot Posts Section:

This section displays your website popular posts. If no posts are available yet it will show “No Post Found.”

You can define categories here such as Technology Business or Fashion. After writing blog posts in these categories they will appear under the relevant sections.

Editing Social Media Links:

In the Social Plugin section add your social media URLs and save them. This will link your social profiles to the website.

Removing Extra Widgets:

Delete unnecessary widgets and elements from the layout to improve your website loading speed. Extra widgets can slow down your website so it is best to keep only the essential ones.

Footer Menu Customization:

Add important pages like Privacy Policy Terms of Service and Contact Us in the footer menu by linking them appropriately.
